FROM THE MODERATORS: Dear members of the PH COVID-19 Health Workers Viber Chat Group, For us volunteer-moderators and the rest of the chat group knowledge management team, it has been a privilege to facilitate the every other night discussions that we've had since March. We are very grateful for the chance to have engaged with you all, in whatever capacity that has been, as we have collectively responded to the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Philippines. It has been quite an experience, especially for our young medical student/intern colleagues who are entering the next phase in their careers as they prepare for their licensure examinations this September. Given this and the observation that the discussions aren't as intense as they were in early March and April, we would like to announce that the chat group will be undergoing significant changes beginning July 2020. To inform these changes, we were hoping that you would help us by taking the time to answer this survey: tinyurl.com/HCWViberChatSurvey We are looking to evaluate if and how the chat group made an impact as you performed your respective roles during these challenging times. Your answers and thoughts will be much appreciated. Stay safe. God bless. Padayon!!!

(smiley)

Good evening dear doctors. Can you please enlighten me with regards to the definition of a probable case of COVID-19? Mentioned in the definition are an "inconclusive" result or testing done at a laboratory not accredited. Is the test referred to is Rapid Antibody Test or RT-PCR test. Because some colleagues tag patients who become reactive to IgM/IgG as probable case. I feel there is a confusion with this. Thank you po

8:12 AM
Mei Gonzales

Good evening. I'm Dr Mei Gonzales from Medical City Satellite Clinics in QC and Cainta. We still get patients whom we need to home quarantine and not needed to be swabbed. So we refer to their respecteive Barangays ... however one patient apparently was visited by their local bgy health workers and was told something like " hindi kami ang magmomonitor kasi ung minomonitor lang namin ay ung positive " ; another instance was --busy kami kasi nagrarapud test sa barangay kaya hindi ka namin mamomonitor... and another in Kalookan ( Bgy 171) the only existing number , celfone number is " cannot be reached". How do we address this?

8:14 AM

The first two i stance i mentioned were jn Cubao, one is Project 4 and the other one unfortunately, i missed to take down which bgy it was.

Dr Albert Domingo (WHO PHL)

Doc, DOH algorithms do not use rapid antibody-based tests for clinical decisions. Only RT PCR.

8:17 AM
Dr Albert Domingo (WHO PHL)

Hi Doc, you may refer the barangay to the LIGTAS COVID guidelines: doh.gov.ph/sites/default/files/health-update/jao2020-0001_0.pdf

8:20 AM
Dr. Harvey Hernandez

Thank you Dr. Medina and Dr. Domingo. I totally agree with your explanations. The Unified Algorithms are really of help.

8:22 AM

Wala pong anuman Sir! :)

8:24 AM

We already have unpleasant experiences with RESU as well and in most times they do not answer our calls na. Thanks.

8:25 AM

That barangay in Kalookan, what I did was write a letter to the brgy and asked to patieny to let his relative bring my letter to the barangay since we cannot get hold of them. I just documented what i did in our clinic file.

8:27 AM

Good evening! I hope everyone is safe and well. I would like to verify that as of tonight, June 29 2000H, that a negative RT-PCR is still NOT a requirement for issuing clearance to travel? Context: I have 3 family members working on clearances to travel. Two have already been issued clearance, but one got held up. The local health officer refused to sign the clearance because the IATF's guidelines now reportedly required (-) RT-PCRs. I would like to verify that this is incorrect. Furthermore, my 2 cleared family members were told that their clearances may be rescinded because of this change in "guidelines." When asked to produce the pertinent document, the health officer could not show proof. I checked our official references already, but I do not see any reference to an RT-PCR requirement for travel. Unless there is new information that is yet to be released? Thank you very much!

8:30 AM

Sorry to hear that Ma'am. :( I will always say that best pa rin to engage are the proper channels (RESU, local health office, etc), but in these times where everyone's struggling with the pandemic, sometimes the more direct approaches work better. :) Thanks Doc for advocating for your patients in the barangay and for enabling them to get the services they require from the system. :) Ika nga po nila, #sanaall. Hopefully, the processes are enabling and facilitating enough for more MDs and HCWs to utilize the existing health systems, which would in turn strengthen them further. Padayon Doc.

Doc @Dr Albert Domingo (WHO PHL) good evening po! The unified algorithms dated May 17, 2020 is still the latest one? Thank you po!

8:45 AM
Dr. Paolo Medina (UPCM)

Sir AJ, hello po. The team is trying to look for the formal issuance/guidelines. Pending the official documents (we will share once we have them), we direct your attention to this recording of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque's virtual presser today: m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=671413440382123&id=262155953790 I think what's relevant to your concern is at the 9:30 to 10:13 or so mark po. Thanks and sana po makatulong sa relatives niyo. God bless.

8:46 AM

Hello Ma'am. Yes. The unified algorithms in the PSMID website are the latest ones pa rin po. Thanks.

As per Sec. Roque, in essence Sir, (-) RT-PCR is still NOT a requirement for travel; health certificate lang from destination's health officer; RT PCR testing to be done at destination (if available); quarantine protocols at destination. We understand that there have been conflicting reports and news articles in the last few days, pero ito pong presser ni Sec. Roque ang best nating pinanghahawakan so far. Mukhang wala pa rin daw pong written guidelines.

Thank you so much for your response! Really appreciate it. Thank you for sharing the presser. I looked at the pertinent parts, and yes I get the same message as you on parts 10:19 to 10:30. Health certificate only upon departure, then RT-PCR upon arrival if available. Otherwise quarantine x 14 days. I will share the feedback with my relatives. It's been causing them undue stress and anxiety. Thank you again and keep up the great work!

The Stop COVID Deaths team is inviting you to participate in this week's webinar... [Webinar 11] "Rehabilitation for Critical Care Survivors of COVID-19" with Dr. Celso F. Bate (Psychiatrist, The Medical Center and VRP Medical Center) 3 July 2020 / 12:00 nn - 2:00 pm About the webinar: " What happens to patients who survive severe COVID-19? Patients who have to be in intensive care units may have rehabilitation needs related to the effects of intubation and ventilation, as well as prolonged immobilization and isolation from loved ones. These could include impaired lung function, physical deconditioning and weakness, difficulty in swallowing and speaking, mental health issues like depression, delirium, and cognitive impairment, and the need for continuing psychosocial support. The needs may be greater among those with other underlying diseases or for older persons. Rehabilitation plays a critical role in early discharge and in preventing relapse and readmission. "READ: http://psphp.org/…/psphp-releases-version-2-of-recommendat…/ We are happy to share with you the Four-Part Recommendations for Community-Based Management of COVID-19 (CBMC) for LGUs. The recommendations outline an LGU-led approach towards an empowering, person-centred response. Each module clearly states the objectives, key messages and target audience. Slides are mostly practical and intuitive to impart. There is no monopoly of expertise when it comes to this fight against COVID. Hence, our work has mainly been facilitative: 1) getting insights from those on the ground, 2) seeing how national approaches can be feasibly implemented, 3) aligning and shaping interventions to operationalize in LGUs through interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral dialogues with relevant expertise and stakeholders. Our desire: A shift of key messages and actions towards those that matter most, so that LGUs and families are not only stuck, but empowered. We want LGU-led, community-based and person-centered COVID-response across the country. Please share freely, modules are designed to streamline ongoing responses from the province to the barangay level.
